At Stewart Technology, great engineering starts with great people. As part of our Meet the Team series, we’re introducing the individuals who keep our production running smoothly and make sure every product is built to the highest standard.

Next up is one of our engineers, Alastair Darling. Ali plays a vital role in supporting our operators, maintaining our machinery and making sure our production processes are as efficient as possible.

Q+A With Ali

How long have you been at Stewart Technology?

10 years in October.

What is your favourite part of your role or project you’ve contributed to?

My favourite part of my role is doing what I can to make processes easier and more efficient for operators.

What snack or drink gets you through the day?

Fizzy juice!

What is your favourite piece of equipment in the factory?

My favourite machine in the factory is the 3D printer as I enjoy designing parts for machines or testers and the troubleshooting that comes with it.

What is a typical day like?

On a typical day I help operators with any issues or queries they might have. I also spend time creating product programs on various machines. Plus I do machine maintenance and fix any machines that need fixed.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Playing with my kids and watching TV shows and films.

What is your favourite movie or TV show?

My favourite movie is Django Unchained but recently really enjoyed Project Hail Mary and Disclosure Day.

What is one insight from your role that you think clients or partners would find useful?

We are versatile and knowledgeable in all areas of PCB and product production.
