At Stewart Technology, it’s the people behind the scenes who keep everything running smoothly. As part of our Meet the Team series, we’re introducing the individuals who play a key role in supporting our customers and delivering high-quality electronics manufacturing services. First up is our Operations Director, Stewart Robertson. With over 14 years’ experience at Stewart Technology (and even longer behind the scenes), Stewart is central to the day to day running of our production and works closely with customers from prototype through to full manufacture.

Q&A with Stewart

How long have you been at Stewart Technology?

Officially 14 years, unofficially 18 years!

What is your favourite part of your role or project you’ve contributed to?

Favourite role is working on new prototypes, especially ones that are a challenge, the more complex the bigger the challenge.

What snack or drink gets you through the day?

I’m generally a healthy eater but have a serious sweet tooth so sweets in the office area can disappear very quickly!

 What is your favourite piece of equipment in the factory?

Working with the X-series line at surface mount, it is the engine room of the factory so it is a key bit of equipment.

What is a typical day like?

Making sure surface mount and general running of production throughout the factory is going according to plan. As well as engineering tasks, such as prototypes and speaking to customers.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Football and the gym

What is your favourite movie or TV show?

Normally football is on the TV most nights but my favourite film would be Warrior.

What is one insight from your role that you think clients or partners would find useful?

Probably that we are very open and honest! In my role I will likely be working with a product from start to finish, so being able to tell a customer how to build or make their product more manufacturer friendly will help them further down the line from a cost and quality perspective.
